Towards an Expressive Decidable Logical Action Theory

In the area of reasoning about actions, one of the key computational problems is the projection problem: to find whether a given logical formula is true after performing a sequence of actions. This problem is undecidable in the general situation calculus; however, it is decidable in some fragments. We consider a fragment P of the situation calculus and Reiter’s basic action theories (BAT) such ...

The Complexity of Enriched µ-Calculi

The fully enriched μ-calculus is the extension of the propositional μ-calculus with inverse programs, graded modalities, and nominals. While satisfiability in several expressive fragments of the fully enriched μ-calculus is known to be decidable and EXPTIME-complete, it has recently been proved that the full calculus is undecidable. In this paper, we study the fragments of the fully enriched μ-...

Enriched µ-Calculus Pushdown Module Checking

The model checking problem for open systems (called module checking) has been intensively studied in the literature, both for finite–state and infinite–state systems. In this paper, we focus on pushdown module checking with respect to decidable fragments of the fully enriched μ–calculus. We recall that finite–state module checking with respect to fully enriched μ–calculus is undecidable and hen...

On the Boundary of (Un)decidability: Decidable Model-Checking for a Fragment of Resource Agent Logic

The model-checking problem for Resource Agent Logic is known to be undecidable. We review existing (un)decidability results and identify a significant fragment of the logic for which model checking is decidable. We discuss aspects which makes model checking decidable and prove undecidability of two open fragments over a class of models in which agents always have a choice of doing nothing.

DL Actions with GCIs: a Pragmatic Approach

We recently proposed action formalisms based on description logics (DLs) as decidable fragments of well-established action theories such as the Situation Calculus and the Fluent Calculus. One short-coming of our initial proposal is that the considered formalisms admit only acyclic TBoxes, but not GCIs. In this paper, we define DL action formalisms that admit GCIs, propose a pragmatic approach t...
